The Trials of Eve, softcover

The work explores in visual and poetic form the history of woman based on the ancient story of Adam and Eve. This is a pictorial and verbal narrative in the form of a three- act play, describing Eve’s courtroom trial and subsequent tribulations. The disturbing drama ends on a note of hope for the future of men and women.

First published in 1989 in a limited edition of 100 copies, it is now a collector’s item, found in Special Collections of Public Art Galleries and University Fine Art Libraries in Canada, the U.S. and France.

The hardcover edition of 100 was awarded the 1989 Alcuin Citation Award for book design, the only award of its kind in Canada. The book consists of 12 full colour tipped in images, accompanied by twelve poems in English and French, with an introduction by artist, curator and writer Ann Rosenberg. The hardcover edition also contains an original wood engraving.

The English only softcover edition of 500 contains a foreword by New York art critic and writer Lucy Lippard, a detailed essay by the artist and a 10 years history of the work until the publishing date, 1993. This edition is sold out.
